Top karaoke tunes of 2013
December 31, 2013 - Terri Castelaz
An interesting tidbit for our local karaoke enthusiasts.
YouTube VEVO, which has more than 70 million views and 250 thousand subscribers, has just released its list of the 10 most popular karaoke songs of 2013. Leading the list, is “Just Give Me A Reason,” by Pink. The karaoke version, scrolled specifically for duets and released to KaraokeOnVEVO in July, has the top position with more than 1.5 million views. But two songs by Beyoncé, “Listen” and “Love On Top”, captured the second and third place awards, with nearly two million combined views. “Counting Stars,” the single release from OneRepublic’s 2013 album "Native," peaked at No. 3 on U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and the karaoke version made up ground on the other contenders, notching no fewer than 527,000-plus views. “Everything Has Changed,” another duet, this time in the style of Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, rounded out the top five. Sixth was the long time current hit “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell. Sixth and seventh went to Tim McGraw’s “Don’t Take The Girl” and “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. Perhaps most surprising, the Academy Award-winning classic “Over The Rainbow” from 1939’s "The Wizard Of Oz" broke the Top 10 for 2013, coming in at No. 9. At No. 10 was “Say My Name,” by Destiny’s Child.
