Another fine softball season for the Romps sisters

June 18, 2013 - Burt Angeli
The Romps sisters and the Plymouth High School softball team played in Wisconsin’s Division 2 state semifinals last season.

Identical twins Rachel and Sara didn’t make it to state this time but still enjoyed a very successful season. Megan Romps was a senior on the 2012 squad.

Pitcher Rachel and catcher Sara, daughters of Norway grads Chris (Trudeau) and Bill Romps, both made the All-Eastern Conference softball first team.

After a runner-up league finish, Plymouth bowed to top-seeded Waupun Plymouth 3-1 in a regional final. A season-high five errors, with three runs unearned, did in the Panthers.

“Rachel Romps was characteristically laser-like from inside the pitchers circle,” indicated the Sheboygan Press, noting no walks, four hits allowed and six strikeouts.

Plymouth finished with an 18-3 record, fourth-highest win count in school history.
