Picking up after Fido

June 4, 2013 - Ron Deuter
Sick of irresponsible, inconsiderate dog owners who don’t scoop up after their pets in public areas?

The town of Brunette, Spain (20 miles west of Madrid) may have the answer.

Through a volunteers effort, excrement was scooped up and packaged in a box marked ‘Lost Property’ and delivered by courier to the pet owner’s home.

Some 147 deliveries were made in one week, and the town has reported a 70 percent drop in the amount of dog leftovers found in its streets.

In another town in northern Spain, the city council introduced a law that forces pet owners to register their dog’s DNA so that they could be traced if their excrement was found in streets or parks.
