Artificial retina story has local connection

My fellow blogger Chris Tomassucci recently posted a link to a New York Times article about the Food and Drug Administration's approval of the "artificial retina," which is a device that can offer partial vision to the blind.

It's really quite amazing.

Anyway, I thought you readers might be interested to know that the story has a bit of a local connection. Jim Weiland, a 1984 graduate of Norway High School, worked on the artificial retina project.
