NMU ailing in upset

That was a nicked up Northern Michigan University football team that stunned nationally-ranked Grand Valley State 38-10.

The Wildcats, who beat the Lakers for the first time since 2000, played with the back-up quarterback, lost the leading rusher for violating team rules and Kingsford linebacker Josh Droese saw limited playing time due to an injury.

Grand Valley, which outscored Michigan Tech this season, was missing its starting quarterback.
