What's your Bacon Number?
September 17, 2012 - Nikki Younk
Google is pretty amazing. I was more than thrilled when I discovered that the popular search engine allowed me to use "handwriting" on my iPad. I didn't think life could get any better. But then, Google upped the ante. Just a few days ago, it revealed its greatest creation yet: the Bacon Number.
How often have you gotten into arguments with friends over the game "Six degrees of Kevin Bacon?" It's the game in which you try to connect actors with Kevin Bacon either through movies they've been in with him, or movies they've been in with another actor who has been in a movie with Kevin Bacon. With the new Bacon Number feature, Google eliminates the guesswork. Just type the name of any actor followed by the words "bacon number" into Google, and the site will find you the correct number of degrees of separation between the two.
So far, I haven't been able to think of any well-known actor with a Bacon Number higher than three. Even Charlie Chaplin has a Bacon Number of two (the connection is Tippi Hedren). Hey, Kevin Bacon has been in a lot of movies.
Oh Google, what will you think of next?
