Bears will enter October in first

September 4, 2012 - Ron Deuter
Is there any reason to believe that the NFL season could enter October with the Bears at 4-0 or 3-1, and the Packers at 2-2 or even 1-3?

Green Bay’s first month of the season is a backbreaker, opening against three of the NFC’s top teams. The Packers host the 49ers and Bears, then head off to Seattle and come back to Lambeau for the Saints.

I’ll give the Pack the Seattle victory in Week 3, but I could see any of the other three games easily going either way, even with home field.

The Bears, meanwhile, host the Colts before heading north, then return home for the Rams and close out September at Dallas. I see three games there that the Bears should win, and the Week 2 Thursday night showdown at Green Bay as one that they could win.

And I look for the Lions around 2-2 or 3-1, beating St. Louis and Minnesota, losing to the 49ers, and the Titans game a toss-up.
