Inside enemy territory

August 6, 2012 - Ron Deuter
I had to pick up a friend at the Green Bay airport last week, and he had never been to Green Bay in his life. Even though we are both Bears fans, we decided it would be interesting to take the tour of Lambeau Field.

I decided to wear a Bears jersey on the tour, and I was ready for the ridicule.

Surprisingly, no one on the tour really said anything, that is until we walked down near the playing surface.

This is when the tour guide pointed out some of the Hall of Fame names adorned around the lower bowl of Lambeau. He said the Packers have 21 players in the pro football hall of fame, adding — with a glance in my direction — that Bears fans would quickly point out their team has 26.

Just as quickly, however, he pointed to area of the stadium honoring the Packers past championships, informing the tour participants that the Packers hold 13 titles, more than any other team in history, while the Bears have only nine.

All in all, we enjoyed the tour. And the improvements currently being made to the stadium look impressive.

But I’ll still pass on adding my name to the list of 95,000 plus awaiting season tickets.
